It’s hard to deny: There’s just no better way to spend a hot summer day than with a tasty, ice cold beer and some friends. Prague, as well as the rest of the Czech Republic, is easily one of Europe’s top epicenters for beer and the culture which surrounds it.
Although it’s completely legal here to take a beer with you wherever your travels may take you, to partake in a genuinely authentic Prague experience, you’ll want to check out one of these incredible beer gardens.
Letná Beer Garden
With its stunning views of the Prague skyline, few would argue that Letná’s beer garden is the best in the city. This location has ample seating with picnic tables under canopies of lush trees. One of the only drawbacks is their limited beer selection; however, they do offer a variety of spirits and ciders. Considering that the Travel Channel rated Letná’ Beer Garden as one of the best in Europe, it’s without question a must visit for all beer enthusiasts.
Hospudka Na Hradbách
If fewer crowds and more of a local’s atmosphere is your vibe, the beer garden in Vyšehrad is perfect. Located inside the castle’s gates, this beer garden has indoor and outdoor seating, so unlike many, it’s open all year. Want to explore and walk around the perimeter wall; no problem, just get your beer to go in a plastic cup. If you’re hungry, grab one of the grilled Balkan specialties or one of their vegetarian offerings.
Riegrovy Sady is an excellent option for a couple of reasons. First, it’s very centrally located, making it easy to get to by tram, bike, or foot. The beer variety is also rather exceptional (a department that’s lacking with some other beer gardens). As far as open space goes, it’s also one of the largest; even when it’s crowded, it tends not to feel overwhelming. And here’s the thing, there are actually two beer gardens to choose from—both of which serving a variety of grilled foods and small plates.
Seeing that Stromovka is one of Prague’s largest parks, the beer garden here makes for a great choice when you want to get away from the city and out in nature. This location is excellent for exploring the many trails which wind through the forest’s ponds, streams, and bridges. In addition to the beer garden’s restaurant, you can also rent one of the many grills which are excellent for having outdoor get-togethers with friends.
